Falling behind again on Saturday night, the Utah State Aggies rallied yet again to secure a 48-17 win over San Jose State.

The first 16 minutes of the game was abysmal for Utah State, featuring a pair of turnovers – a fumble and interception – by quarterback Logan Bonner. Trailing 14-0, the game seemed to be headed in the wrong direction.

Needing to win on the road to stay atop the Mountain Division, the Aggies did what they’ve done best this year. They came roaring back.

Logan Bonner tossed a pair of touchdowns – a two-yard score to Savon Scarver and a four-yard strike to even the score in the second quarter. An Elelyon Noa 3-yard touchdown run and a 32-yard field goal by Connor Coles made the score 24-14 heading into halftime.

The Spartans answered with a field goal to cut the score to 24-17, but the Aggies countered with a Brandon Bowling five-yard touchdown catch to increase the lead to 14 heading to the final frame.

To complete another comeback victory, the Aggies added a 40-yard field goal and two touchdowns – a 41-yard Derek Wright catch and a six-yard run by Calvin Tyler Jr. in the fourth quarter.

Logan Bonner led Utah State with 263 yards passing with four touchdowns and one interception. The Aggies rushed for 147 yards on the ground, and receiver Deven Thompkins caught five passes for 127 yards.

The Aggies defense also stepped up against the Spartans, recording eight tackles for loss and forcing three turnovers.

Utah State improves to 8-2 overall, 5-1 in the Moutain West with the win. The Aggies have now won nine straight against San Jose State, and five straight overall this season after starting the campaign 3-2.

Up next, the Aggies will face Wyoming in the Bridger’s Battle rivalry on Saturday, November 20 at 6 p.m.
