No. 12 Oregon came in as a four-point favorite, but it didn’t matter as BYU led from start to finish in an 81-49 road victory over the Ducks in the Phil Knight Invitational Tuesday night.

Playing in the Moda Center, home of the Portland Trailblazers, BYU’s Alex Barcello looked like Damian Lillard as the senior couldn’t miss en route to a game-high 25 points.

Te’jon Lucas chipped in with 12 points, Fousseyni Traore and Spencer Johnson each had 10 points apiece and Seneca Knight added nine points, to go with six rebounds and three assists in the win.

BYU’s 32-point win Tuesday night is its largest margin of victory for the Cougars against a ranked opponent. BYU is also the first unranked team with a 30-point win on the road against a Top-15 opponent since Nov. 29, 1993 (UConn defeated No. 12 Virginia).

BYU improved to 3-5 against ranked teams under coach Mark Pope. The Cougars beat then-No. 2 Gonzaga in Provo, Utah, on Feb. 22, 2020, one of just two losses for the Bulldogs that season.
