Every week on Stadium Sportzz, we will be posting weekly reviews of the three major men’s college basketball programs in the state.

With college basketball season just underway, let’s take a look at the results for each of the teams as they push for a bid to the 2022 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.

Utah State Aggies (5-1)

The Aggies won their lone game of the week on Saturday, improving to 5-1 overall with their fifth straight win.

Saturday vs. Texas-Arlington – won 80-61 

Coming off winning the Myrtle Beach Invitational championship last weekend, the Aggies played their lone game of the week against the Texas-Arlington Mavericks of the Sun Belt Conference on Saturday night, cruising to an easy victory. 

Justin Bean was the top performer for Utah State, scoring 24 points on 9-of-11 shooting while grabbing 10 rebounds.

Brock Miller added 16 points while shooting 50 percent from downtown (4-8) for the Aggies, while Steven Ashworth chipped in 15 points and six assists off the bench.

Utah State connected on 51.7 percent of their shot attempts in the win, including a 41.4 percent clip from behind the arc (12-of-29). The Aggies also led the way in assists, outpacing the Mavericks 26 to 11.

Up next

The Aggies now welcome NAIA program Carroll College (MT) to the Spectrum on Monday night, followed by a home matchup against WCC foe Saint Mary’s on Thursday.

The game against Carroll College will tip-off at 7 p.m. and can be streamed on the Mountain West Network. The game versus the Gaels begins at 7 p.m. and can be seen on CBS Sports Network.
