While RSL has struggled historically playing in Dallas – only ever winning twice – they were able to pick up an important point in the fight for playoff positioning.

The home team took the lead early, scoring in the seventh minute via a goal by Alan Velasco.

The game was an even affair throughout, with FC Dallas tallying 13 shots (3 on target) to Real’s 16 (6 on target). Dallas recorded 52 percent to RSL’s 48, while each team had four corner kicks.

While the game was evenly matched, the score remained in the home side’s favor until the 69th minute.

That’s when Real’s Aaron Herrera delivered a perfect ball into the box that found the head of Anderson Julio, evening the score at 1-1.

RSL was able to keep Dallas off the score sheet for the final 20 minutes plus stoppage time, securing a valuable point away from home.

Real Salt Lake in the table

The draw gives RSL 39 points through 27 games (10 W, 9 D, 8 L). They now sit in sixth place in the table, even on points with fifth-place Nashville with a game in hand.

Real is also three points ahead of seventh-place Portland with a game in hand in the battle to clinch a playoff spot.
