The women’s college volleyball is beginning to take shape, so let’s take a look back at the past week for each of the seven Utah programs.

Utah State

The defending Mountain West champions are beginning to hit their stride before the start of conference play in a couple of weeks.

Traveling to Oregon to take part in the Asics Invitational, the Aggies began the tournament with a 3-1 win over Portland State on Friday afternoon. They followed with another victory in the evening against Oregon State, 3-0.

Capping off the tournament on Saturday, Utah State took down Portland 3-0 to complete an undefeated 3-0 week and win its fourth straight match overall.

Utah State (6-2) will now face three in-state opponents in the next week.

First, the Aggies will host Utah Valley on Tuesday, Sep. 13 at 7 p.m. before traveling to play Utah in Salt Lake on Friday at 6 p.m.

They’ll finish the week by heading to Ogden to battle Weber State on Saturday, Sep. 17 at 2 p.m. The match against the Wildcats will be streamed on ESPN+.

Utah Valley

Utah Valley recorded a pair of wins during the past week, improving its record to 5-3 and extending its winning streak to five matches.

The Wolverines took part in the Harvard/Northeastern Challenge on Friday and Saturday. On Friday, UVU defeated Harvard 3-1 and followed it up with a 3-1 win over the Huskies on Saturday.

UVU (5-3) will face three in-state foes in the upcoming week.

First, they’ll travel to Logan to tangle with the Aggies on Tuesday, Sep. 13 at 7 p.m. UVU then hosts Weber State on Thursday, Sep. 15 at 6 p.m. before ending the week with a match at BYU on Saturday, Sep. 17 at 6 p.m.

The matchup with the Wildcats will be streamed on ESPN+, while the battle against the Cougars can be seen on BYUtv.

Utah Tech

The Trailblazers played three matches this past week, traveling to play in a tournament hosted by Cal and picking up back-to-back wins heading into next week.

Utah Tech first faced Cal on Friday, falling 3-1. The Trailblazers then rebounded with wins over Nevada on Friday and Tennessee State on Saturday, winning both games in five sets.

Utah Tech (5-2) will now host a pair of games towards the end of the week.

First, the Trailblazers take on Idaho State on Friday, Sep. 16 at 7 p.m. They’ll then face UNLV on Saturday, Sep. 17 at 2 p.m. Both matches can be seen on ESPN+.

Utah 

Participating in the San Diego Tournament, the Utes picked up a pair of victories before falling to a ranked opponent on Saturday.

The Utes defeated SMU 3-1 on Friday, before taking down UConn 3-1 on Saturday afternoon. Utah then dropped a match versus No. 12 San Diego on Saturday evening, 3 sets to 2.

First, the Utes will battle BYU at home on Thursday, Sep. 15 at 7 p.m. Utah then hosts Utah State on Friday, Sep. 16 at 7 p.m.

Utah football: Utes bounce back with a massive win

Weber State

Participating in the Irvine-Fullerton Tournament this week, the Wildcats recorded one win and a pair of losses.

Weber State began with a 3-0 loss to UC Irvine on Thursday but rebounded with a big 3-0 win over Gonzaga on Friday. The Wildcats couldn’t capitalize on the momentum, however, falling 3-1 against Cal State Fullerton on Saturday.

Weber State (5-4) now plays a pair of in-state programs within the next week.

The Wildcats will travel to Orem to face UVU on Thursday, Sep. 15 at 6 p.m. They’ll then return home to host Utah State on Saturday, Sep. 17 at 2 p.m.

Both matches can be streamed on ESPN+.

BYU

Traveling to Georgia, BYU took part in the Georgia Tech Classic, losing a pair of matches in the tournament.

The Cougars were defeated 3-0 against host Georgia Tech on Thursday before losing in straight sets to Ohio State on Friday.

Up next

BYU (5-3) now faces to Utah schools in the next week while looking to get back in the win column.

The Cougars will first travel to Salt Lake to take on Utah on Thursday, Sep. 15 at 7 p.m. They will then host Utah Valley on Saturday, Sep. 17 at 6 p.m.

The matchup with the Utes can be seen on the Pac-12 Networks, while the UVU match can be watched via BYUtv.

BYU Football: Cougars stun No. 9 Baylor in double overtime thriller

Southern Utah

Looking for its first win of the season, SUU lost all three matches it took part in this week.

Playing in the Boise State Classic, the T-birds fell in straight sets (3-0) on Friday afternoon against Eastern Washington, before doing the same in the evening versus Boise State. SUU wasn’t able to right the ship on Saturday, again falling 3-0, this time to Butler.

The T-birds (0-7) play two matches this week as they aim to record the first win of the season.

SUU hosts UNLV on Friday, Sep. 16 at 7 p.m. before facing Idaho State on Saturday, Sep. 17 at 2 p.m. Both matches can be seen via the ESPN+ streaming service.
