FCS football: SUU takes down Utah Tech, Weber State wins to stay undefeated

Utah State

The Aggies started Mountain West play on a positive note, picking up a pair of wins for a perfect week.

Utah State first beat Nevada 1-0 on Friday thanks to a winner from Nicole Hadlock.

The Aggies then battled UNLV, winning 2-1 at home on Sunday. Kaylie Chambers scored the opener in just the fourth minute, while Sarah Taylor added a second just six minutes later.

The Aggies are now unbeaten in four straight matches as they head into the second week of Mountain West play.

Up next

Utah State (5-2-4, 2-0 MW) now plays two road matches this week while looking to extend its unbeaten run.

First, they’ll face Wyoming on Thursday, Sep. 29 at 4 p.m. before taking on Colorado State on Sunday, Oct. 2 at 1 p.m.

Both matches will be streamed on the Mountain West Network.

Utah State football: Please let the season end…now 

Southern Utah

Playing two WAC matches this week, SUU stayed unbeaten in conference play with a draw and a win.

After securing a 1-1 result against Abilene Christian on Friday, the T-birds took down Tarleton State 1-0 on Sunday, courtesy of an eighth-minute goal from Kate Schirmer.

Up next

SUU is now 8-1-1 overall and 3-0-1 in WAC play.

The T-birds play just once this week, facing rival Utah Tech at home on Sunday, Oct. 2. The battle for first place in the WAC kicks off a 1 p.m.

Utah Tech

Women’s team

Playing a pair of WAC matches, Utah Tech picked up a draw and a win to extend its unbeaten run to eight matches.

The Trailblazers first shut out Tarleton State in a 0-0 draw on Thursday before picking up a 2-1 win over Abilene Christian on Sunday to stay tied atop the WAC standings.

Utah Tech is now 7-2-1 overall and 3-0-1 in WAC play.

Playing just one match this week, the Trailblazers battle rival SUU in Cedar City on Sunday, Oct. 2. The battle for first place in the WAC kicks off at 1 p.m. and can be seen on ESPN+.

Men’s team

The Utah Tech men’s soccer team played twice this past week, picking up a 1-0 win over Gonzaga on Friday before losing 6-0 to Portland on Sunday.

The Trailblazers (2-6) will look to kick off conference play on a high note with two matches this week.

First, Utah Tech will host Grand Canyon on Friday, Sep. 30 at 7:30 p.m. before facing Air Force on Sunday, Oct. 2 at 1:30 p.m.

Both matches can be streamed on the ESPN+ platform.

The Utes played just once this past week, opening Pac-12 play with a 2-1 win over Arizona on Friday.

Women’s team

UVU played one non-conference matchup this last week, falling 2-1 to No. 24 Portland on Saturday.

They’ll host Cal Baptist on Friday, Sep. 30 at 7 p.m. before traveling to Phoenix to face Grand Canyon on Sunday, Oct. 2 at 8 p.m.

Women’s volleyball: BYU, UVU start conference play in perfect fashion

Weber State

Weber State opened the Big Sky portion of its schedule, losing two matches this past week.

The Wildcats fell 1-0 to Idaho on Thursday before dropping a 3-1 result at Eastern Washington on Sunday.

Weber State (1-9, 0-2 Big Sky) looks to end a five-match losing streak with one game this week.

The Wildcats host Northern Arizona on Thursday, Sep. 29 at 7 p.m., and the match can be seen via ESPN+.

BYU

BYU did not have any matches this past week.
