The regular season and conference tournaments have now concluded for all the state’s women’s soccer teams, and BYU and Utah Valley have been pitted against each other in the upcoming NCAA Tournament.

WAC semifinal

UVU played two matches this past week in the WAC Tournament.

The top-seeded Wolverines faced Grand Canyon in the semifinals on Friday, falling behind 2-0 in the first half.

Utah Valley rallied back in the second half, however, scoring twice in regulation to force overtime.

After a scoreless first overtime period, the Wolverines found the game-winner in the 108th minute, courtesy of Faith Webber. With the comeback win, UVU advanced to play third-seeded New Mexico State in the WAC Tournament final.

WAC championship 

Despite having more overall shots (18-8) and shots on target (6-3), Utah Valley was unable to find a goal against New Mexico State in the WAC final, falling 1-0.

Utah Valley concluded the regular season and conference tournament action with a 14-4-3 record, winning the WAC regular season title.

Along with the conference title and the program’s single-season wins record, the Wolverines also boasted a Top-40 RPI rank and both a win and draw against nationally ranked opponents.

Because of their accomplishments, UVU earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament when the field was announced on Monday.

The Wolverines will face none other than No. 15 BYU in Provo, returning to South Field to face a Cougars team that they defeated 4-2 on September 10.

The match will take place on Friday, Nov. 11 at 6 p.m. Possible TV and/or streaming details have yet to be announced.

Men’s team

Wrapping up their regular season schedule this past week, the Utah Valley men’s soccer team recorded a 2-1 win over Cal Baptist on Friday, for its third straight win.

With the victory, the Wolverines locked up their spot in the upcoming WAC Tournament in Riverside, CA.

UVU concludes the regular season with a 7-7-1 overall record, including 5-4 in WAC action.

As the No. 4 seed, UVU will face No. 5 seed Cal Baptist on Wednesday, Nov. 9 at 8 p.m. MT. The match can be seen on ESPN+.

No. 15 BYU

This week: 2-0-0

Matches

  • Wednesday: Won 6-0 at San Diego
  • Saturday: Won 2-1 vs. Loyola Marymount

Winning both matches in the final week of the regular season, BYU pushed its unbeaten streak to 11 matches (7 wins, 4 draws) to secure an unblemished conference record and a second-place finish in the West Coast Conference.

The Cougars finished the regular season with a 10-2-6 overall record, including 6-0-3 in the WCC.

As a nationally ranked team with a Top 20 RPI, an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament was all but known before Monday’s Selection Show.

Last season’s College Cup runner-up, the Cougars were chosen as one of the four No. 6 seeds in the 64-team bracket.

They will host none other than crosstown rival Utah Valley on Friday, Nov. 11 at 6 p.m. The two teams played earlier this season, with UVU taking down BYU 4-2 on September 10.

Possible TV and/or streaming details for the match are yet to be announced.

BYU football: Cougars show heart, pull off upset win over Boise State

Utah 

The Utes played their final match of the season on Friday at Colorado, earning a 2-2 draw.

Utah ends the season with a 6-7-6 record, including a 2-5-4 record in Pac-12 play.

Women’s team

The No. 4 seed Trailblazers squared off against No. 5 seed Grand Canyon in the WAC Tournament semifinals on Wednesday, falling 3-0.

Utah Tech ends the season with a 10-6-2 overall mark, including a 6-3-2 record in WAC matches.

Men’s team

Utah Tech men’s team took down UNLV at home on Friday, winning 1-0 to close out the season.

The Trailblazers ended the campaign with a 4-12-2 overall record, including a 2-5-2 mark in WAC play.

Weber State

As the No. 5 seed in the Big Sky Tournament, Weber State defeated No. 4 seed Sacramento State in a penalty kick shootout on Wednesday to book a semifinal spot. The match was even at 1-1 after regulation and two overtime periods, with the Wildcats winning 4-2 in the shootout.

Weber State then faced top-seeded Northern Arizona on Friday, this time falling on penalties and being denied a spot in the Big Sky championship. The match was tied 1-1 after regulation and overtime before the Lumberjacks won the shootout, 4-2.

The Wildcats end the season with a 6-12 overall record, including a 4-4 record in Big Sky matches.

Volleyball: Scores from the past week as Weber State, BYU, and USU notch perfect records
