Facing Division II Western Colorado, the Wolverines won their first game of the 2022-23 season.

After falling to in-state foe Utah State to open the campaign, Utah Valley was hoping to start off the home portion of the schedule on the winning side.

They did just that, cruising past Western Colorado 91-64 at the UCCU Center on Wednesday night.

While the Wolverines led by just five at the halftime break, they outscored Western Colorado 51-29 in the second half to seal the first win of the new season.

The victory was a team effort by UVU, with six players scoring in double figures. Le’Tre Darthard led the way with 14 points, while Aziz Bandaogo tallied a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds.

The Wolverines also won the battle inside, outscoring the visitors 52-32 in the paint while making 56.5% of their shots in the game overall (35-of-62).
