Battling the Sam Houston Bearkats at home, the Utah Valley Wolverines came away with an 80-64 win to open conference play on Thursday night.

Leading by 13 at the halftime mark, UVU rode a hot shooting night to begin WAC play with a big win.

Five Wolverines scored in double digits, led by 19 from Tahj Small. Tim Fuller added a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Utah Valley shot 50.8% from the field in the game (30-of-59) while also blocking 11 shots and holding the Bearkats to just 32.8% shooting.

The win is the seventh in a row for the Wolverines, who improve to 10-4 overall.

Up next

UVU (10-4) will now host Utah Tech in the Old Hammer Rivalry as they look to continue their win streak and perfect start in WAC action.

The former junior college foes will battle on Saturday, December 31 at 2 p.m. The game can be seen on ESPN+.
