Taking on Utah Valley on the road, SUU fell 3-0 in the final match of the regular season.

With the Wolverines needing a win or draw to clinch the WAC regular season title, the home team came out looking for an early goal.

UVU found the back of the net in just the second minute, courtesy of a goal from Sydney Bushman.

The T-birds kept the high-powered Wolverines off the scoresheet for the remainder of the opening half, heading to halftime behind 1-0.

However, much like the first half, the Wolverines scored early to open the second frame. Heather Stainbrook notched her 12th goal of the season in the 47th minute to put Utah Valley ahead 2-0.

UVU added the third and final goal in the 67th minute, clinching the 3-0 victory and WAC title for the home side.

UVU recorded more total shots (27-13) and shots on goal (11-3) in the game than the T-birds, who have dropped back-to-back matches after winning three out of four.

The defeat drops SUU’s record to 3-10-1 overall, including 3-5-1 in WAC play.

“We had a very good performance. We played well and they beat us,” SUU coach Kai Edwards said of the match.

“This game gave us confidence to be ready for Seattle,” he added.
