The NCAA Women’s Volleyball Tournament details were announced Sunday evening, which includes three programs from the state of Utah.

Following the conclusion of the regular season and conference tournaments, it was announced that BYU, Utah State, and Weber State were selected to compete in the NCAA Tournament.

Below are the details for each team that secured a bid to the postseason.

No. 16 BYU

Consistently one of the best teams in the West region, BYU was named a No. 4 seed in the tournament, earning the right to host first and second round matches.

The Cougars will first face in-state foe Weber State at Smith Fieldhouse on Friday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. MT. The match can be seen on ESPN+.

BYU is making their 12th straight NCAA Tournament appearance after finishing the regular season 24-6. Their 13-5 Big 12 record was good for third place in their debut campaign in the conference.

Overall, the Cougars have reached the national tournament (AIAW and NCAA) 46 times in the program’s 55 seasons, which includes two runner-up finishes (1972 and 2014).

BYU reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 2022, defeating James Madison before falling to Pitt.

Utah State

Despite an upset loss in the Mountain West Tournament, the Aggies were named as an at-large selection for the NCAA field.

Given a No. 6 seed, USU will travel to Omaha, Nebraska to face Minnesota (16-12, 12-8 Big Ten) in the first round on Friday, Dec. 1 at 3 p.m. MT. The match can be seen on ESPN+.

The Aggies are coming off a 24-6 regular season in which they won the MW regular season title with a 17-1 league mark. Alongside the 2023 regular season title, Utah State has won MW championships in 2021 (regular season) and 2022 (tournament).

USU will be making its 11th all-time national tournament (AIAW and NCAA) appearance, including its second in a row. The highlight of the Aggies’ postseason bids includes winning the 1978 AIAW national championship.

In the 2022 NCAA Tournament, Utah State fell to Arkansas in the first round.

Weber State

After winning the Big Sky Tournament title, Weber State was given an automatic bid to the 2023 NCAA Tournament.

The Wildcats will travel down I-15 to Provo to take on BYU in the first round on Friday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. MT. The match can be seen on ESPN+.

Weber State enters the tournament with a 21-9 record, including an 11-5 fourth-place Big Sky finish. The Wildcats upset both No. 1 seed Sacramento State and No. 3 seed Montana State on their way to the Big Sky crown.

The appearance in this year’s NCAA Tournament will be the sixth postseason bid in Weber State history, which includes three trips to both the NCAA and National Invitational Volleyball Championship tournaments.

This will also be the fifth season in a row that the Wildcats will participate in a national tournament, with selections to the NCAA Tournament in 2021 and 2023 and NIVC berths in 2019 and 2021-22.
