Just two weeks – or three for Utah State – into the 2022 football campaign, and we are already beginning to see what kind of seasons may be in store for the Cougars, Utes, and Aggies.

Where could they be headed for the postseason?

No. 12 Cougars

After a Week 1 trouncing of South Florida, many questioned if BYU could match up with No. 9 Baylor on Saturday.

The answer to that question is clearly yes, seeing as the Cougars knocked off the reigning Big 12 champions in front of a sellout crowd.

Is BYU for real? They have another chance to prove their doubters wrong this week. The Cougars will face No. 25 Oregon in Eugene on Saturday and if they win, they will likely be ranked inside the Top 10 before facing Wyoming on September 24.

No. 14 Utes

Coming off a hugely disappointing loss to Florida in the opener, many wondered how the Utes would respond against FCS opponent Southern Utah.

And while they started slow, the Utes found their stride in the final three quarters to cruise to a blowout win.

Utah may well be a Pac-12 favorite still, but Oregon and USC appear to be tough tests ahead for the Utes. If they can get past them, a Pac-12 championship repeat seems much more likely.

Aggies

Even after a win over UConn in the season opener, many questions were left unanswered about this season’s Aggie football team. Mainly, are they even good?

The answer to that appears to be no. After losing to No. 1 Alabama, Utah State was thoroughly outplayed by FCS program Weber State.

Losing to the Wildcats also proved that six wins may be nearly impossible to come by, so the Aggies are not projected for a bowl invitation this week.
