The college football season has now hit the first quarter mark, with the Utes and Cougars well on their way to bowl invites and the Aggies having a lot of work to do.

FCS football: SUU takes down Utah Tech, Weber State wins to stay undefeated

No. 19/20 BYU

A slow start didn’t stop BYU this week, as the Cougars roared to a 38-24 win over former WAC and Mountain West foe Wyoming.

Now 3-1, the Cougs are already halfway to bowl eligibility and face rival Utah State in a quick turnaround on Thursday.

The game is at home for BYU though and the Aggies have been awful, so it should be an easy victory. As long as the Cougars don’t start looking ahead to Notre Dame too early.

BYU football: Cougars roll to much-needed win after slow start

No. 12/13 Utah

After losing its season opener, Utah has rebounded nicely and appears on track to defend its Pac-12 title after throttling Arizona State on Saturday.

Should the Utes run the table in the Pac-12, it’s hard to see them being anything but the favorite in the Pac-12 title game in Las Vegas, regardless of who they play.

After USC nearly lost to Oregon State, the Utes look like the true conference favorite. But now Utah gets to tangle with the Beavers, a matchup that could tell us about both teams.

Projection: Rose Bowl Game
