Another week in the books at the FCS level, and Weber State is still undefeated while SUU and Utah Tech are mired in losing streaks.

Utah football: Utes upset undefeated USC in nailbiter

No. 6 Weber State

Facing Portland State on the road Saturday, Weber State ran away with a 42-7 win to improve to 6-0.

The Wildcats led the entire way, taking a 35-0 lead before the Vikings scored their first touchdown.

Bronson Barron completed 21-of-31 passes for 274 yards with three touchdowns and an interception to lead the Wildcats. Dontae McMillan added 81 yards and a score on the ground, while Damon Bankston and Steven Shoats-Thomas each added a rushing touchdown. Jacob Sharp led all receivers with 81 yards and a touchdown on just two catches.

Still undefeated at 6-0, Weber State is adding to its program-record best start to a season. The Wildcats are also a perfect 3-0 in Big Sky play.

Now ranked fifth in the latest FCS polls, Weber State will now travel to Bozeman to face Montana State with a spot in first place on the line.

The Wildcats and Bobcats will battle on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 1 p.m., and the game can be seen on ESPN+.

Southern Utah

Southern Utah fell in a close contest on Saturday, losing 21-18 against Abilene Christian.

Battling back from 11-point deficits on two occasions, the T-birds cut the deficit to three with just under three minutes to go but were unable to complete the comeback.

Justin Miller led the SUU offense, completing 26-of-45 passes for 289 yards with two touchdowns and an interception.

The T-birds struggled on the ground, only posting 102 yards and the leading rusher tallying just 28. Isaiah Wooden caught five passes for 117 yards and a score to lead all receivers in the game.

The T-birds (3-4, 1-2 WAC) now return to Cedar City looking to snap a three-game losing streak.

Utah Tech

Facing Northern Iowa on the road, Utah Tech was throttled 41-14 while suffering a fourth consecutive loss.
